Church History
The history of Heritage Christian Fellowship began with God putting a vision on Jim Glynn’s heart in March of 1993, and the church was launched shortly thereafter in a living room in Capistrano Beach. Immediately God brought Jim together with Roger Gales, who had just returned with his family from missionary work in Australia for 4 years. Together they served to create House to House Christian Fellowship with the vision of a relational church that was outreach focused and leading people in a deeper walk with God.
House to House quickly grew out of meeting in homes and moved into the Community Center in downtown San Clemente. In the early years, two churches merged with House to House, as others realized we can achieve more together than alone. The first was Marvista Community Church, then in 1997, Cristianitos Community Church. After the second merge, the church name was changed to Heritage Christian Fellowship, reflecting our desire to provide a heritage in Christ to future generations.
Prior to the second merge, Cristianitos had acquired undeveloped property in the Rancho San Clemente Business Park, which has since become the church campus of Heritage Christian Fellowship. In August 2000, after 15 long months of construction, the building was completed and the church moved into its new home. Not long after, the church was able to acquire the adjacent vacant lot from the City of San Clemente.
In 2007 Jim Glynn resigned as Senior Pastor after 14 years of faithful service to the Lord and the church. Roger Gales, who was then Executive Pastor, after serving alongside Jim since the church started, was unanimously appointed by the elder board as the new Senior Pastor. The transition was seamless.
The church has continued to grow in size, maturity and influence. We’ve seen God do wonderful miracles and bring many to salvation.
If you believe that God wants to add you to us, then you are becoming part of a community of faith that is excited about living sold-out lives for Jesus. We want to live in an authentic expression of Christianity that will shine a light out into our city and our world. In this way, we will see His Kingdom extended, His name glorified and His church growing to be the beautiful bride for which Jesus will return.
